Muhammad Ilyas lives in an informal slum settlement in Lahore. Most of the residents in the neighborhood work as day laborers, many as rickshaw drivers. Ilyas’s house, built of clay bricks, consist of one room, with a small kitchen and a wash room. Remembering early years, he recalls his days a factory worker when he would walk home worn out from worry and fatigue, their living conditions deteriorating and no financial assistance from anyone. So much so that he could not send two of his three children to school. He often thought of supplementing the household income by opening up a business but was discouraged by his prevailing financial condition. After working in a factory for 20 years he decided to start his own stitching business, using one machine day and night, to produce orders. He would get the material from vendors and would only get the labor cost. This new found profession helped him increase his income and send his younger son to school With the passage of time he has become an expert and managed to sustain good customers and in order to set up a small suit bag making workshop he needs a capital injection. He is planning to employ his elder son so that he can have a skill to make a living. He wants to obtain a loan from seedout
It promotes enterprise development and creates employment opportunities with increased living standards.
